What is secondary osmosis

  •  Secondary osmosis

Secondary osmosis , also known as reverse osmosis (RO), is a process that involves the movement of solvent molecules (typically water) across a semipermeable membrane from a region of higher solute concentration to a region of lower solute concentration. Unlike regular osmosis, where solvent moves from a low solute concentration to high, reverse osmosis uses external pressure to overcome the natural osmotic pressure, forcing water through the membrane against the concentration gradient. This process is widely used in water purification, desalination, and various industrial processes to produce purified water by removing impurities and dissolved solids.
