Act 4:


Juliet seeks help from Friar Laurence, who devises a plan for her to fake her own death by drinking a potion that will make her appear lifeless for 42 hours.

The idea is that Romeo will eventually come back, find Juliet seemingly dead, and they can escape together.

Act 5:


Miscommunication occurs, and Romeo hears of Juliet's "death" before learning the truth about the plan. He rushes back to Verona.

Romeo arrives at Juliet's tomb and believes she is truly dead. He takes poison and dies beside her.

Juliet awakens, finds Romeo dead, and stabs herself with Romeo's dagger.
